Early Childhood Library

The children’s library is located at the heart of the historic site of Haviv School – the first Hebrew school in Israel. In this unique setting, where the first seeds of Hebrew education were planted, a contemporary library has been created, offering a multi-sensory experience for early childhood.
The design is based on the theme of literacy—letters, consonants, and numbers—combined with iconic motifs from the early days of the settlement, including stone houses, the historic water tower, and playful elements.

The library is intended to foster a love of reading among toddlers before formal education begins, and to create an active, curiosity-driven environment that integrates enjoyment, exploration, and engagement.

The interior is divided into diverse zones: an entrance lobby with a soft play structure in a circular path; The Letter Square—an open area with large sculptural wooden letters inviting play and interaction; "The Story Garden"—an elliptical double-sided library for ages 0–6; a central hall for children aged 6–11 featuring book displays, reading corners, and computer stations; a multi-purpose activity room for shared parent–child activities; and a study room for adults offering a quiet, intimate space for focus and reflection.
